A new joining pathway designed to support women who are new to golf, returning after a break, or looking to make Swaffham their new home club.
We know that joining a golf club can feel intimidating — whether you’re new to the game, coming back after time away, or stepping into a new club environment where you don’t yet know anyone.
Golf has a unique ability to bring people together, build confidence and create lasting friendships, and we’re keen to encourage more women to enjoy everything the game and club life has to offer. This pathway has been created to help remove some of the common barriers, offering a supportive and gradual introduction to golf membership at Swaffham Golf Club.
The pathway runs over three years, allowing new members time to settle in, build confidence and feel part of the club before transitioning into full membership, providing space to learn, connect with others and progress at a comfortable pace.
From relaxed roll-ups to organised competitions, there are plenty of opportunities to play in a way that suits you. Many women start socially and gradually build confidence before taking part in medals, stablefords or team events — there’s no pressure to rush.
You’ll also find a supportive women’s section alongside mixed, seniors’ and club events, making it easy to feel part of the wider club community.
Take advantage of our practice facilities to develop your game in a relaxed environment. With covered practice bays, warm-up nets, a short-game area and putting green all close to the clubhouse, you can practise as much or as little as you like.
As part of this joining pathway, members benefit from priority tee times and access to member rates, including discounted green fees, buggy hire and reciprocal golf at partner clubs. To support women as they settle into club life, the pathway offers a consistent reduction on the annual membership rate for the first three years, before transitioning to full membership at standard rates from Year 4.
Year 1: 40% reduction on the annual membership rate
Year 2: 30% reduction
Year 3: 20% reduction
If you’d like to find out more, or would like to come and have a look around the club, get in touch and we’ll be happy to talk things through.
We're proud to be committed to the Women in Golf Charter, launched by The R&A and supported by England Golf. The Charter sets out a clear commitment across the sport to:
✔️ Encourage a more inclusive culture within golf
✔️ Support more women and girls to play the game
✔️ Create more opportunities for women at all levels of participation
✔️ Encourage families to enjoy golf as an accessible, social activity
At Swaffham, this commitment goes beyond policy. Our management committee is proud to support initiatives that value women’s involvement in every aspect of the club — from playing and competing, to volunteering and pursuing opportunities within the sport.
