Fore Get Me Not Golf is a dementia-friendly golf programme designed to help people living with dementia continue enjoying the game they love in a relaxed, supportive and social environment.
The sessions take place at Swaffham Golf Club on the 4th Wednesday of every month, 2-4pm and are suitable for all abilities, with carers and families welcome to take part.
Spending time outdoors, moving gently and doing something familiar can make a real difference. Golf offers light physical activity, fresh air and simple, achievable moments — whether that’s rolling a putt, striking a ball or just enjoying a stroll together. It’s not about competition or performance; it’s about keeping people active in a way that feels comfortable and enjoyable.
Just as important is the social side. These sessions create space for conversation, shared laughter and connection — not only for those living with dementia, but for carers and family members too. Being around others who understand can be incredibly reassuring. It’s a chance to relax, talk, and feel part of a supportive community.
Each session, held on the 4th Wednesday of every month, 2-4pm begin with a friendly welcome at the clubhouse, where everyone can settle in with a cup of tea, cake and a chat. There’s no rush and no pressure — just a calm, supportive environment where people can take part at their own pace.
From there, we move into gentle golf activities such as putting, simple chipping games or, for those who wish, a few short holes on the course. Volunteers are always on hand to offer guidance and encouragement. Afterwards, there’s time to sit together again, reflect on the afternoon and enjoy each other’s company before heading home.
